“I never thought I could become a manager one day,” says Ning Xueling, who was born with a congenital defect in her left hand. She joined WEGO Medical in 1999 as a packaging worker and gradually worked her way up to become a team leader in the auxiliary workshop. This year, she was honored with the “Gold Employee” award. Ning reflects, “WEGO Medical did not discriminate against me because of my physical limitations. They gave me equal opportunities and ample space to prove myself.”

WEGO Jierui Medical Products Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of WEGO Medical, is recognized as a welfare company and one of the enterprises in Weihai City that centrally employs disabled individuals. It has been repeatedly honored as a provincial and municipal demonstration base for the employment of the disabled and as a fitness demonstration base for the disabled. The company has specialized departments such as the “High-Tech Welfare Department” and “Auxiliary Workshop” to provide daily management and services for disabled employees. To date, WEGO Medical has employed over 1,300 disabled individuals, with over 130 retiring from the company and 68 families purchasing welfare housing. Currently, 706 disabled employees are still working at WEGO Medical.

Zheng Longgao, who hails from a rural area in Jining and was born with a congenital disability that prevented him from working normally, faced significant hardships after losing his parents early. He eked out a living doing odd jobs to support his younger siblings. In 2007, he learned about WEGO Medical’s recruitment for disabled workers and joined the company.

“My younger brother has graduated from university and started working. With the company’s help, I bought a house, got married, and had children. I’ve even got social insurance and housing fund contributions—things I never thought possible in my lifetime. It’s all been worth it!” Now 44, Zheng is full of joy and confidence, frequently glancing affectionately at his wife.
